Incremental Magnetic Encoders have gained their place in the market due to their robustness, and have been used with low resolution in industrial and automotive applications.
Technology has evolved and enabled to produce magnetic encoders with high resolutions and also absolute magnetic encoders, keeping its main feature, the robustness.

CM26M is the unique multi-turn absolute encoder in the market designed to offer to multi-turn potentiometers customers a product far superior to the potentiometer, with a cost performance never before achieved with an optical multiturn absolute encoder.

A typical application for this product would be for automatic doors position control.

Long Life

It was a demand of the automatic door engineering departments, an absolute sensor that allows them to know the exact position of the door at all times. The CM26M is an absolute multiturn contactless sensor, which ensures long life and it is extremely robust, since the physical principle is magnetic and fits perfectly with this application.

Programming

The encoder can be programmed by the user from 1 to 200 laps and permits to adapt the door turn numbers. The information provided by the encoder allows controlling the position at any time, given that the electronic controls have analog inputs. The outputs of CM26M are 0..10V and 0..5V.
Sometimes it was very difficult to offer to the manufacturers SSI or fieldbus outputs, because the electronic control outputs are not prepared and the change would require an complete redesign of its control electronics.

Assembly

The mounting system CM26M sensor could be installed directly on the axis or by belt pulley. This is an extremely robust miniature sensor and the assembly options are diverse.
When we talk about CM26M robustness, we refer to the fact that being magnetic, doesn´t contains any glass disc as an absolute optical encoder.
The radial and axial load on the encoder shaft but should be taken into account, recommending Flexible mounting system or flexible coupling. In most cases the system used for mounting a conventional potentiometer would be valid.
